As for No man's sky, we all know the controversy, but we also know that they did not just take the money and ran.

The reason that it reminds me of Routine is that Routine just went completely radio silent after they announced the game is going to be released by the end of 2017 or the start of 2018, but they never did, and even to this day, no one from the team came out to say a single word. The situation we are in now reminds me of two games, the never-released horror game "Routine" by Lunar-Software, and "No man's sky" by Hello Games. I wish Omocat would realize this and move forward. Would it have been worth delaying Undertale indefinitely following a tortuous five-year development cycle just to implement the hug? Hell no, the game’s still great without it. Consider Undertale: would it have been worse without visually depicting the hug at the end of True Pacifist? Sure.
#Omori kickstarter full
Thus, it’s possible that it was truly complete back in December but once Omocat began playtesting the final release she got cold feet when the RPGMaker sprites couldn’t convey the full picture like her art could, and decided to push back release to add even more animations.Įven so, there’s a balance to be had between perfecting something and accepting it for what it is and allowing release. This is her first game, after all, and a bunch of times during development there’ve been signs that she bit off more than she could chew, whether it be scrapping all progress in 2015 to use a new RPGMaker or hiring a dev team a few years ago. It seems likely that a visual artist like Omocat known for her detailed artwork wouldn’t like it when she couldn’t realize her vision as clearly in the gaming medium.
#Omori kickstarter update
My best-faith interpretation of the development given what we’ve learned in this update is that Omocat is a huge perfectionist. They’ll milk the pandemic for all it’s worth. giving us until late June before the virus begins to taper off, there’s no reason to think they’ll be back to work before summer.
